Who We Are

Kids with Cancer Foundation is an independent, non-profit children’s charity that provides funding for childhood cancer sufferers, their families and institutions that assist ill children. To date we have donated over $34 Million to ten different hospitals, and countless families.

Unlike most charitable organisations, 100% of every donation made to our tax-deductible Gift Account goes where they’re needed most: the kids. No management fees, salaries or any running costs for the Foundation are taken from our Gift Account. This is our promise to cancer families and our supporters.

We raise the vast majority of funds by conducting continuous and highly popular $2 lotteries (art unions/raffles) 7 days a week, all year round. These are sold through shopping centres in NSW, the ACT and Victoria. These lotteries cover all our running costs, including rents, wages, vehicles and phones. 60% of lottery proceeds go towards assisting people children and families in need and supporting Australia’s world-class treatment and support facilities.

We receive no Government assistance, and have no major corporate sponsors.

WHAT WE DO

Since 1997, we have provided direct financial assistance to families of pre-teen children (12 years old and under) in financial difficulties as a result of their child being treated for cancer. We support doctors, nurses, social workers and groups that care for children with cancer.

As an independent charity we are not directly involved in the care of children, leaving it to the professional, committed staff in Australia’s excellent institutions to do what they do best. We offer assistance to every children’s hospital through our Funding Committee, which receives specific requests and consults directly with hospitals and social workers on priority issues, including:

  • Hospital wages
  • Pediatric oncology training
  • Special care training
  • Wages for nursing
  • Additional oncology ward pharmacist resources
  • Computer equipment
  • Comfortable recliner chairs for kids during treatment.

OUR FUTURE

We will continue to find better ways to treat cancer in children and provide ongoing financial support to families with a pre-teen child suffering from cancer. Funding clinicians and social work positions within the Children’s Hospitals and continued funding to Bear Cottage Sydney are also priorities. And we will stay actively involved in helping supporters and communities in their important fundraising activities.

KWC FOUNDATION

We created the Kids with Cancer Foundation ribbon in our colours to continue to raise awareness for childhood cancer. We chose to use blue and pink to represent boy and girl because childhood cancer does not discriminate.
